I have been treated to Sake dinner...twice. Yes, I am extremely blessed to have very loving and generous friends who knows my affinity for Japanese food as well as my liking for dressing up nicely for dinner. I would consider Sake as a modern take on Japanese cuisine as everything is exquisitely presented in little bite size pieces and some dishes are not what you would typically get if you were in Japan. Sake offers intimate seating with couple tables that overlook the Brisbane River and also booths/segregated table dining at the back for larger groups. There are also stools and bar seating along the kitchen for a more casual (yet still fine dining) experience that allows you to have a glimpse of the chefs cooking up a storm.
We ordered many dishes that night: sashimi appetiser (8 pieces of sashimi with wasabi and soy), beef sirloin (medium rare grass-fed sirloin on sauteed onions and japanese mushrooms, topped with soy and ginger sauce), ikaru scallop (QLD scallop topped with salmon cavier and ponzu sauce), waygu new-style (thin slices of wagyu beef lightly seared with hot oil finished with ginger, chives and yuzu soy), popcorn shrimp (bite-sized prawn pieces served with creamy spicy sauce).
I loved every single dish. My favourite was the ikaru scallops- I have never tasted raw scallops so succulent and fresh in my life. It was in a whole other league compare to the other Japanese restaurants in Brisbane (Wagaya and Hosokawa). The wagyu beef literally melted on your tongue - I was afraid that the soy sauce would overpower the beef but it didn't at all.
The dessert was absolutely delectable too. I had the one features on the last photo and it was soooo good. It's the perfect size to finish of a night of lite tasting platters. But watch out for those sake jellies hehe.
RECOMMENDED FOR: Japanese with class (take a lot of cash or a rich friend)
